A Few Fun Times

Baby Girl,

I wanted to post a few things that have happened over the past couple months that I had forgotten about.  The first was Grant's birthday party.  This was your first birthday party to go to.  He and a friend had a Flag Football Party.  It was so much fun.  The boys played against each other outside and most of the girls hung out inside on the inflatable slide.  Gracie was so sweet and only wanted to hang out with you during the party.  Because it was a football party you had to be dressed the part.  Mommy had you a onesie made so that you would fit in!  Here are a few pictures from the party....

You, the birthday boy, and Gracie.

You even got to go down the inflatable slide!! I can't decide if you liked it or not?!?

The next fun thing we did over the past month was movie night.  Since Daddy and I would rather spend Friday and Saturday night with you, we decided we would watch a movie together.  Daddy pulled out the air mattress and we spent the evening watching a movie.  While you slept through most of it, it was fun anyways.  I can't wait until you are old enough for us to do this again and watch a movie of your choice.

Even Bentley joined in on movie night!

Finally...fun times with friends....

One Saturday afternoon our great friends Christen, Ben, and Mary Hyatt were home visiting.  They decided to come by because they hadn't seen you in a while.  Boy were they shocked!!  You had grown a lot since they had last seen you.  You happened to be awake and playing on your mat when they got here.  Mary Hyatt was a big fan and quickly joined you to see if it was really fun....

Next, Mary Hyatt wanted your daddy to read her a book.  Of course you couldn't miss out on the fun.  You love story time too!

Next, Mommy decided to let Mary Hyatt hold you.  This was her first time.  Of course, Christen was a wreck, but I figured it would be ok.  She was very excited and it looks like she loves you very much (I don't think she thought a lot of you at first!)

Everyone wanted to hold you...even Ben!!

I am still not sure that Mary Hyatt likes you enough to let her Mommy just hold you.  But she doesn't seem to care when Ben holds you.

Finally, just the girls.  We sure do hope you and Mary Hyatt are best friends like your mommies.  You will be spending a lot of time together so this is a definite possibility!

What fun days we have had with you and your daddy and I look forward to many more!!  You make us smile each day.  Every moment with you is a moment I hope I never forget.  You are growing up so fast, but I look forward to all the memories we will continue to make with you in them.

Love,
Mommy

A Night At The Hospital

Baby Girl,

Well unfortunately you have now had your first visit to the hospital....

At the end of February you were running a fever that we couldn't seem to get rid of.  It started out low grade (99.5ish) through the weekend and then increased to 100.0 - 101.0 into the beginning of the week.  Last time you had a fever (when you got your 2 month shots) the doctor's office told me not to worry about it until it was over 100.4.  So of course the second it got to 100.5 I was calling!!  The doctor's office was actually concerned that you were running a fever and decided I should bring you in for a check-up.  When we got to the doctor's office your temperature was only 99.7.  After talking with the doctor he wanted to give you a RSV/Flu test.  I thought you just had an ear infection, but your ears looked fine.  While waiting on the results of the RSV/Flu test the doctor informed me that if your test came back negative it would result in us having to go to the hospital to have additional tests run.  Of course, this test came back negative so we were off to the hospital.  Because you weren't quite three months yet, the doctor felt it was important to figure out why your temperature was running this high.

Once we arrived at the hospital your temperature had gotten to 100.7.  The nurses were fantastic with you.  You weighed 11 lbs. 10 oz!  The first thing they decided to do was take a chest x-ray to check for pneumonia.  I got to go with you back to the x-ray room.  However, once I got back there I realized I was going to be the one to hold you down while they took the x-rays.  I did not like being in this position.  You screamed and did not like this either!! Once we got back to the room, it only got worse.  They had to put a catheter in you to check for an infection.  They realized once they started this procedure your girl parts had closed up and they would have to re-open it.  This was pitiful!!!!  You screamed and cried.  It made me so sad to see them hurting you.  After this, they decided to take blood to check for anything else.  It took two tries to retrieve blood and I think this was the worst of all.  While trying to get blood they gave me this sugar water to put on your paci.  You did like this for the first few seconds, but then quickly went back to realizing they were hurting you!  We had to wait 45 minutes for these tests results.  When they came back they informed us they would need to take MORE BLOOD!!!  This meant a lot more sugar water and tears.  Another hour passed and the results were in....they found NOTHING!!  They decided to do a culture on your blood and would get back with us on the results.  They did this because the first blood they took produced strange results and the second time they were completely normal.  It would take us 5 days to get these results.  So after a very LONG day with a lot of screams and tears we were on our way home.  You got a lot of love that night and the next day!!
This is a picture of you after you had your second round of blood drawn.  They decided to put an IV in you to give you some fluids and incase we ended up being admitted.

Love,
Mommy

P.S. 5 days later.....NOTHING!! They have no idea what was causing your fever.

Random Trip to Atlanta

Baby Girl,

The middle of February, your daddy and I decided to take a random and quick trip to Atlanta to see your Uncle Dusty.  One Friday afternoon, your daddy, Aunt Reagan, Mommy and you all loaded up and set off to see Uncle Dusty.  We got to Atlanta pretty late so we went to bed right after we got there.  The next morning we woke up, had breakfast, and decided we would head off to the mall.  You were all for that.  You are ALL girl...you love to go shopping.  You definitely shopped 'til you dropped that day.  We got you a few things, Uncle Dusty bought you a denim dress, we had lunch, and walked until our feet hurt.  You were perfect, as usual.  We decided that Uncle Dusty enjoyed carrying you around like an accessory to his outfit.  He is definitely warming up to you!!

Once we left the mall, Mommy wanted to run to a little boutique in Atlanta.  It wasn't as great as I wanted it to be (you didn't get anything).  However, Aunt Reagan and I quickly learned that Uncle Dusty isn't a great shopper for you.  He told us several times that we couldn't just buy you outfits that are pink. We tried to explain to him that you have several outfits in your closet that are not pink.  However, as fashionable as Uncle Dusty may be....he DOESN'T need to buy you clothes.  If we left it up to him you would have been in boy outfits.  Everything he picked up to buy you came from the boy's section of the store!!

After shopping, we came back to Uncle Dusty's and decided to stay in for the night.  He cooked us a great dinner and we ended the night by playing Just Dance on the XBox.  You slept through most of this, but it was very entertaining!!!  I hope it is still around when you get old enough to play.  What am I saying...something greater will have been invented by then!!

Love,
Mommy

You're Two Months Old

Baby Girl,

I am in shock that two months have gone by!! You are growing up way too fast.  You have changed so much in just one month.  Here are a few of my favorite pictures of you from this month....

You still LOVE to get a bath.  Your daddy and I love to put you in the bath tub and watch you kick and play.  We now leave you in the bath tub past just washing you so you can enjoy it!  You love to have your head scrubbed at the end of your bath.

You have really started to smile at us this month.  It isn't just a gas smile any more.  We will stick our tongue out at you, blow at you, or do other things that make us look utterly ridiculous and you will just give the biggest grin.  You are so close to laughing, but haven't really laughed at us just yet.  Either your not quite there yet or you don't think we are funny at all!!

You are still a HUGE cuddle bug!!  Every morning Mommy gets you out of your Nap Nanny and puts you in the bed next to me.  You will stay asleep for another 2-3 hours cuddled up to me.  Your daddy had you lounging on MiMi's table one Sunday night at dinner.

You had a lot of firsts this month.  You went to church for the first time.  You went on your first vacation to the beach.  You had your first medicine (for some tummy problems).

Here are some other things about you this month....

* You weigh 10 lbs. 8 oz.
* You are 22 3/4 inches.
* You smiled at us for the first time this month.
* You love your paci still.
* You sleep through the night.
* You take 4 oz. and 6 oz. bottles throughout the day.
* You love your play mat that Nanny and PaPaw bought you for Christmas.  It has a piano at the foot and you kick and kick at it.  Your daddy and I are convinced you are going to tear it up before long.
* You still like to lay on our chest through out the day.
* You love to get in your carseat and go places.
* You have started to get good at holding your head up by yourself.
* If I put you on my lap and hold you by your hands you are starting to straighten your legs and stand on my legs.
* You are now wearing 0 - 3 month clothes.  Honestly, you still wear some newborn as long as it doesn't have feet in it.
* You are wearing a size 1 in diapers.
* Your daddy jokes that you will never know your name because I call you so many different things (Shug-a-boog, Doodlebug, Lovebug, etc.)
* You still love to take a bath.  You now kick and splash every time we put you in your tub.  You are still taking your bath in your little tub in the sink.
* You still sleep in your Nap Nanny between Mommy and Daddy (I am afraid next post I will have to say you have moved into your pack-n-play :( ).

You are truly such a joy.  You are the happiest baby.  Your daddy and I don't know how we got so lucky with you.  You are an answer to so many midnight prayers and we couldn't love you more.  You are absolutely spoiled rotten, but we wouldn't do anything different!

Love,
Mommy
